Levebee for Researchers

Consistent digital assessment administration for young learners

By developing the Levebee early math diagnostic assessment and administering it to tens of thousands of students each year, we have built deep expertise in designing assessments for young children that require minimal adult supervision. Young learners need more than an online form – they need audio support, practice trials, inactivity-triggered tutorials, and a low-stress environment.

Join other third-party researchers who use the Levebee platform to digitize their assessments, such as Picture Vocabulary Tests, screeners, and more.

Reduce administrator variability

Human-administered assessments can vary in subtle ways. One administrator may repeat instructions. Another may explain a task differently. One may help too much. Another may move too quickly. Levebee standardizes the parts of administration that should be consistent: scripted audio instructions and reactions, practice trials, timing, task flow, and response capture. In addition, all data is logged for later review.

Lower the operational burden

Levebee does not eliminate the need for local supervision. Schools still need adults to set up devices, manage the room, and ensure students work independently. What Levebee can reduce, however, is the amount of administrator training needed for repetitive administration tasks such as reading instructions, explaining examples, guiding practice trials, managing task flow, and capturing responses.

Help children focus on the task, not the tool

Levebee already includes hundreds of interaction components beyond multiple choice, designed for students who may not yet read fluently, type confidently, or navigate complex interfaces independently. These components can be reused as is, or we can develop new ones with features such as audio instructions, slower playback, dual-language support, visual tutorials, and built-in practice trials.

Capture process data, not just final answers

Traditional assessment often captures only the final response. Levebee can also capture how students interact with the task. Click stream data can include intermediate steps, time on each item, changed answer, skipped items, instruction replays and many more. This gives researchers and assessment teams a clearer view of student behavior, hesitation, confidence, and interaction patterns.

Keep assessment secure and private

Levebee supports secure school and research use with privacy in mind: NDAs, Data Processing Agreements, secure student login, controlled data access, and research-ready data handling. Compliance requirements are handled according to the project context and jurisdiction, including COPPA, FERPA, GDPR, and UK GDPR where applicable.

Proven large-scale early assessment logistics

Levebee is not a generic testing interface. It is built on years of work with young learners, teachers, schools, and research partners. In large-scale early numeracy projects such as Math without Barriers, Levebee has supported classroom-based digital diagnostics for tens of thousands of young students and thousands of teachers through QR code logins, procedural checklists, and short online administrator trainings and video guidance.

How it works

Assessment Digitization

1

Levebee’s team adapts your assessment into a child-friendly digital experience.

Pilot Validation

2

A small pilot is conducted to confirm usability, reliability, and data quality.

Full-Scale Administration

3

The final validated assessment is administered across classrooms, schools, or districts.

Data Delivery

4

Data exports are provided in a research-friendly format.

Who it is for

Research teams

Run early-grade studies across schools without sending highly trained assessors into every classroom. Use Levebee to deliver standardized tasks, collect response data, and export detailed interaction logs for analysis. For example, we worked on digitizing localized versions of standardized Picture Vocabulary Tests.

Ideal for:

  • Pre/post measurement
  • Early reading and numeracy research
  • Intervention studies
  • Digital assessment validation studies

Districts and school networks

Administer screeners, readiness checks, or pilot assessments across classrooms with less training burden. Use Levebee when you need a consistent assessment experience that young children can complete with limited adult help.

Ideal for:

  • Pilot evaluations
  • K–3 screening
  • Intervention placement
  • Progress checks

Ministries, NGOs, and foundations

Collect early-grade learning data across many schools without building a custom digital testing system from scratch. Use Levebee to support scalable, child-friendly assessment administration in real classroom conditions.

Ideal for:

  • Multilingual SES studies
  • Evaluation of large-scale initiatives
  • Early math and reading screeners
  • Young student surveys

Assessment publishers and curriculum providers

Bring your existing early-grade assessment content into a child-friendly digital environment. Levebee can provide the delivery layer: audio, practice trials, student UX, event logs, teacher setup, and structured data exports.

Ideal for:

  • Digitizing validated assessments
  • Piloting new instruments
  • Collecting usage and response data

What Levebee is not

Levebee is not a generic item bank, high-stakes proctoring system, or enterprise exam-management platform. It is a focused administration layer for early-grade assessment tasks where the main challenge is helping young children understand the instructions, interact with the task, complete the flow consistently, and generate usable response and process data.
